Malanda is a dairy and historic mining town on the Atherton Tableland, located about 85 km from Cairns. Malanda was established in 1880s when tin and copper were found at Herberton. The name Malanda is renowned throughout Queensland for its milk and cheese. The Malanda Environmental Park, located just opposite the small Malanda Falls and pool, offers a fascinating short bushwalk through the rainforest and a chance to see the unique flora and fauns of the area.
