Maleny is a small scenic rural town and tourist centre located about 90 km north of Brisbane on the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast hinterland of South East Queensland. Maleny and the nearby towns of Montville, Landsborough, Mapleton and Peachester provide a wonderful array of attractions and recreational and tourist facilities supporting many activities and entertainment. This area is a wonderful place to visit and explore when you are holidaying on the Sunshine Coast. The major natural attractions nearby include Baroon Pocket Dam and the Glass House Mountains. It is a magnificent area of wonderful views and rainforest. Maleny was initially a timber region, then a dairy farming area and more recently it is famous for its tourist activities and alternative lifestyles and cultures. The area has a huge range of craft, artists and art galleries, and has a strong focus on eco-tourist. Maleny is home to health food and organic produce stores, alternative medical treatment and organic farming.
