Marrawah is a tiny town in the remote and rugged far North West Region, that is Tasmania's most westerly settlement. It is located about 490 km northwest of Hobart and 290 km northwest of Launceston. Marrawah has wild beaches and rocky headlands on a stunningly beautiful coastline. The huge and rough swell attracts surfers from all over the world. The renowned and popular surfing competition, `the West Coast Classic`, is held at Green Point Beach every year in the large consistent surf in this area. The beach at Marrawah is also a fantastic windsurfing location because of the reliable and strong winds and regular competitions are held in the area. One notable attraction is King`s Run, which is a large property just outside the town that overlooks the Southern Ocean and provides great facilities for walkers, motorists and hikers. Marrawah is also popular for fishing and abalone. For accommodation there is Glendonald Cottage and several farmstay options. Marrawah services the surrounding general farming and dairy properties on farmlands the roll down to the sea at Green Point and West Point. The major attractions in the area include bushwalking along the coastline, visiting the fabulous Aboriginal carvings at Sundown Point and Mt Cameron West, and joining cruises along the beautiful reaches of the Arthur River. Another other great attraction is the Arthur-Pieman area which lies 16 km south of Marrawah. It is an ideal and beautiful area for walking horse riding, 4WD adventures, fishing and picnics.
