It is located on a small peninsula about mid-way along the Sorell Causeway (hence the name) joining Hobart to Sorell, with Pitt Water on its southern and western sides, and Orielton Lagoon on its eastern side. The suburb meets the mid-way point of the Sorell Causeway from Hobart to Sorell, hence the name. Midway Point lies close to Hobart International Airport and is about 21 km from the centre of Hobart via the Tasman Highway. It is a great place for windsurfing or strolling along the foreshore. The seemingly endless expanse of sand at beautiful Seven Mile Beach are a short drive away.
