Minnipa is one of the main gateways to the Gawler Ranges and the magnificent Gawler Ranges National Park which is renowned for its wildlife including pygmy possums, Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats, hopping mice and for its wonderful array of 140 species of wild flowers. The town features two important research centres - the Centre for Excellence in Low Rainfall Farming and the Minnipa Agricultural Centre. Local attractions include: Visit the Heirloom Leather Collection to see leather crafting skills and displays of hand plaited kangaroo leather belts, whips and many more items. Minnipa is at the centre of a number of extraordinary granite hill formations including: Tcharkulda, Minnipa, Yarwondutta, Chilpuddie and Pildappa - with their waves, gnamma holes and caves.
