The small town of Miriam Vale in the Gladstone Region of tropical north Queensland, has a number of wonderful heritage buildings, including some fine examples of the timber `Queenslander` style house that is renowned world-wide. The town is the gateway for coastal attractions and activities, the rural areas of Boyne Valley and the many National Parks in the area. These areas include Rodds Peninsula, Eurimbula and Deepwater National Parks on the coast and the inland park areas of Mount Colosseum National Park and Bilburrin State Forest. Miriam Vale is a great base for exploring and enjoying all the attractions and activities in this wonderful area. It is close to the twin coastal holiday resort towns of 1770 and Agnes Waters. Baffle Creek is an angling paradise and some areas of coastline offshore of Turkey Beach in Rodds Bay, are preserved as habitat for dugong. Turtles nest on the beaches during the summer months.
