Mission Beach is a stunning and beautiful holiday destination located about 2.5 hours north from Townsville and 1.5 hours drive south from Cairns. There are more than 14 km of sandy beach fringed with palms to explore and enjoy. Mission Beach and the associated villages have retained a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. As well as Mission Beach township itself, there are 4 main village areas which are from north to south, Bingil Bay, Mission Beach, Wongaling Beach and South Mission Beach. Development has also begun at two other beaches Garners Beach and Brooks Beach to the north. Mission Beach is a secluded destination, yet it is vibrant and exciting. There are two beautiful islands offshore, Bedarra Island and Dunk Island , that are part of the Family Group of Islands. Further north is Hinchinbrook Island , which is the largest island National Park in the world. Day trips via ferry and water taxi to Dunk Island offer a wonderful experience. There is a large range of water activities, such as snorkelling, diving kayaking and sailing, scenic bush walks, secluded beaches and resort pools. You can stay overnight or longer at the beautiful Dunk Island Resort. Mission Beach has an excellent range of restaurants, cafes, art and craft shops and pubs offering a wide range of food.
