There is excellent bushwalking and mountain biking trails in the area, as well as scenic areas for picnic and BBQs. The towering peaks of Mt Corhanwarrabul and Mt Dandenong and provide a stunning backdrop to the central shopping area in Montrose. Montrose has a wonderful array of reserves, parks and sporting grounds, bicycle tracks, tennis courts, and horse riding trails. Just north of Montrose along Swansea Road is the small town of Lilydale, which marks the start the rich grape growing areas of the Yarra Valley.
