Mount Coolum situated in the Coolum National Park , South of the township, dominates the local landscape showcasing the rugged escarpment. After rainfall, many delightful waterfalls plunge down the steep craggy cliffs into open eucalypt forest on the lower slopes. Towards the summit, there is rare montane heath and the Park also protects paperbark wetlands, coastal wallum and rainforest remnants. The climb to the top is not very strenuous and there are spectacular panoramic views. Mount Coolum and Coolum Beach provide for the perfect seaside escape for lazy week-ends away and for longer holidays. Mount Coolum is an excellent place to stay for exploring all the attrctions and activities available on the Sunshine Coast.
