Mount Dandenong is a small town / suburb located about 35 km east of Melbourne in the Shire of Yarra Ranges. Mount Dandenong, originally known as Corhanwarrabul is also a 635 m high mountain upon which the town is situated. The town of Mount Dandenong lies between the tourist towns of Kalorama and Olinda in the scenic Dandenong Ranges which is very popular for bushwalking and mountain bike rides and for picnics and BBQs. There are many outstanding restaurants, bed and breakfasts and other stylish places to stay in this lovely getaway area. The surrounding area of the Dandenong Ranges National Park offers a fascinating array of walking tracks, scenic lookouts, picturesque gorges and mountain streams. A major tourist attraction is the Mount Dandenong Observatory, with a cafe, the Sky High Restaurant, scenic picnic and BBQ areas, and spectacular views.
