Newell Beach has about 4 km of beautiful, unspoilt sandy beach for fishing, walking and relaxing with Mossman Gorge and the beautiful Daintree Mountains as a backdrop. From the beach, there are spectacular views of Low Isles and Port Douglas, Snapper Island and other Great Barrier Reef island. Newell Beach is located only about an hour`s drive north of the Cairns, and a short drive from Port Douglas. Newell Beach is a great base to stay and explore the many attractions and activities available in the area. You can swim in the crystal clear rock pools in the rainforest of Mossman Gorge National Park; visit the Daintree Village and Rainforest, and spectacular Cape Tribulation. Newell Beach has a wide range of beachfront accommodation. It is restful, secluded and quiet and restful with no noisy hotels and as a bonus you can fish right from the beach or for your own or a hired boat. There are good boat ramps at Saltwater Creek, at the northern end of Newell Beach, and at Mossman River. These boat ramps have excellent facilities and they provide hassle-free access for boating, diving and fishing in the estuaries. There are excellent reefs for diving and fishing just off the beach and you can try the waters near the offshore islands. Otherwise you drive to the Daintree River and fish for Barramundi and explore the natural habitats and birdlife. Newell Beach is only a short drive from the Mossman Golf Club and other sporting facilities.
