Oenpelli is a remote Aboriginal community in the Arnhem Land Region of the Northern Territory located about 70 km from Jabiru. Arnhem Land is a large and isolated area with spectacular escarpments, spectacular rock art, billabongs, flood plains, diverse animal life, beaches, mangrove wetlands and plant life. Road travel is possible with a 4WD vehicle but permits are required. Local attractions include # Injaluk Arts and Crafts Centre # Open Door Festival - held in August each year., which features an Australian Rules tournament. Walking tours are also available around Injalak Hill, a site rich in ancient Aboriginal rock art paintings.
