Orpheus Island is one of the few islands on the Great Barrier Reef that have accommodation or resorts. Orpheus Island is located about 50 km east of Ingham and 100 km north of Townsville. Access to Orpheus Island is by charter ferry or private boat. The closest boat ramp for access to the island is at Taylors Beach or Lucinda, 23km to the northwest. Orpheus Island has seven magnificent sandy beaches and there are three walking tracks within the National Park that includes most of the island. Camping is permitted in the National Park at South Beach, Yanks Jetty and Pioneer Bay but you will need a permit and campers must provide their own food, water and first aid equipment. The Orpheus Island Resort provides luxury accommodation and resort facilities overlooking a beautiful beach and the scenic Hazard Bay.
