The small town of Ouyen is located in the Mallee, at the junction of the Calder Highway and Mallee Highway, about 100 km south of Mildura and 460 km north-west of Melbourne, in the Murray Region of Victoria. Ouyen is the service centre for the surrounding grain farming region and is a popular tourist destination with easy assess to National Parks and Nature Reserves. The spectacular Hattah-Kulkyne National Park, and the Hattah Lakes, are located about 35 km to the north of Ouyen has diverse flora and fauna, and outstanding birds, bushwalking trails and wonderful springtime wildflower displays. The Pink Lakes of Murray Sunset National Park are another feature. Wyperfield National Park begins about 60 km to the south-west.
