Pakenham, located in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, about 60 km from Melbourne, is the gateway to South and Central Gippsland, and to the Western Port Region. Pakenham offers easy access to some of finest tourism attractions and recreational activities in Victoria. Pakenham is close to a diverse range of nature and historical features such as bush and parkland, mountain ash forests mangrove-fringed shorelines to the south. Close by is the Dandenong Ranges feature Bunyip State Park, Gumbuya Park, the famous Puffing Billy Railway, Warrook Cattle Farm and many excellent bushwalking trails. Pakenham has a fine retail centre and has a diversity of tourism facilities, including a range of accommodation facilities, art and craft shops, restaurants, cafes and hotels.
