The famous Gold Coast holiday destination of Palm Beach is situated just the north of Currumbin Creek, in the less crowded southern part of the Gold Coast. Palm Beach has excellent surfing and fishing, and the beach is suitable for families and for experience board surfers. There are additional surfing and swimming areas at nearby Currumbin Creek, including the sheltered waters near the creek inlet. The bushwalking path from Palm Beach to the spectacular Burleigh Head National Park offers wonderful views of the scenic coastline. Palm Beach is close to the popular Currumbin Sanctuary with its fantastic close-up displays of native wildlife, interpretative shows and play area. Anglers enjoy fishing on the local surfing beaches, rocky headlands, on the off-shore reefs and in the local river estuaries.
