Parkes , located about 350 km west of Sydney, and 300 km from Canberra in the Central West Region of NSW, was settled in the 1850's as a gold mining town. Parkes is a modern town with a thriving commercial centre servicing a rich agriculture district. On the second week in January every year, the town of Parkes hosts Elvis Impersonators in a 5 day Festival Program that features more than 120 individual events.
