Listed Below are the Penguin - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions - Find where to Go, what to See and Do.
Penguin is an attractive coastal holiday town in the Central Coast Region of Tasmania, located about 31 km west of Devonport and 17 km east of Burnie. It was named after the beautiful fairy penguins, which live in burrows along the coastline. The penguins can be seen running up the beach to their burrows to feed their young each evening after spending the day offshore, between November and March. Penguin is a great base for exploring all the wonderful attractions and activities along the picturesque coastline. The area has sheltered beaches, fascinating National parks, caves and many other attractions. The famous Penguin Markets are held every Sunday, showcasing the best of Tasmanian arts and crafts and local food and wines. Since being re-developed there are over 200 stalls in a new fully undercover emporium, with a fresh food court. There is a patrolled surfing beach at Burnie and the Penguin area is famous for its fishing and boating. There is a wide range of accommodation available at Penguin and nearby towns.
