The Kangaroo Island Sealink vehicular ferry from Cape Jarvis, docks at Penneshaw several times each day to unload passengers, vehicles and goods. Penneshaw is a great base to stay for exploring all the attractions of Kangaroo Island. The beach at Penneshaw is known as Hog Bay. It is a very popular beach with fine white sand and is suitable for swimming and fishing and there are picnic with BBQs facilities available. Fairy penguins stroll up the beach to their burrows every evening in summer and guided tours are available to get a close look. Antechamber Bay is located about 10 km east of Penneshaw and it also provides a fantastic sheltered swimming beach. Cape Willoughby Lighthouse is located further on along the coast. There is more safe swimming, fishing and boating at American Beach, southwest from Penneshaw. There is a large range of accommodation on the waterfront at Penneshaw and in the local communities.
