The Perisher Village is located 1680m above sea and boasts snowboard and ski hire, accommodation, ski schools, snowmaking facilities, ski patrols, lockers and ski storage. Shops, banking facilities, eating facilities, a supermarket, post office, childcare, police and a medical centre are available during the ski season. Access to the Valley is by road or the Skitube underground railway. The 4 resorts of Perisher Blue area are connected by the ski trails, Skitube, and chairlifts. Altogether the area has a downhill skiing area of over 1200 hectares, a total of more than 50 lifts and over 100km of cross country trails. In summer most of Perisher Valley`s facilities are closed except for the accommodation. However the area is still a popular destination for mountain bikers, bushwalkers and cyclists. The Perisher Valley area is dominated by the 2,054 metre high Mount Perisher with superb alpine scenery. The Celebration of Winter Festival is held in June at the start of the ski season and the Perisher Blue Spring Carnival is held in September.
