The village boasts several of shops and restaurants in the Mall, cafes and food-outlets, and a wide range of places to stay including hostels, hotels, and holiday houses and villas. You can also hire cars, bicycles and motor scooters for cruising around the island. The old jetty located in the centre of the bay is no longer used for boats, but is a great fishing spot. Picnic Bay also has a popular golf course. The adjoining bays on either side of Picnic Bay are worth visting. Cockle Bay, to the West has great diving on the wreck of the `City Of Adelaide`. Rocky Bay to the east is very popular for relaxing on the beach, swimming, kayaking and snorkeling. There is an excellent bush walk from Picnic Bay Picnic Bay to West Point that begins near the Picnic Bay Golf Course, has outstanding wetland mudflat habitats to explore. The beach at Picnic Bay is patrolled during the busy tourist season. Off the coast you can see the wreck of the `George Rennie` that is visible at low tide.
