Poochera is a major stop-over for visitors travelling along the Eyre Highway and has a variety of accommodation at a hotel, motel and caravan park. The town has excellent facilities with a golf course, oval, bowling green, tennis courts and a roadhouse. Poochera is a gateway to the nearby Gawler Ranges that feature excellent panoramic views and wildlife. The area is also ideal for camping and bushwalking. To the west is the coastal resort and port of Streaky Bay, which is renowned for its boating and fishing for King George whiting, crayfish and abalone.
