The Port Davey Marine Reserve lies within the Southwest National Park and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It includes Bathurst Channel, Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour and the reserve extends inland for more than 20 km to the north and east, and up to the high water mark of all bays, rivers and estuaries. The reserve protects all marine life and all habitats, including exposed reefs, steep gorges, open ocean, bays and inlets, kelp forests, seagrass meadows, and muddy and gravelly sediments. Port Davey is the end or start location on the western end for the South Coast Walking Track - also known as South Coast and Port Davey Tracks.
