Port Albert is small fishing and tourist centre on the shore of Bass Strait, located about 240 km south-east of Melbourne, 15 km south of Yarram and just east of Wilsons Promontory. The Gippsland Regional Museum features exhibitions and displays of the town`s maritime history. The wharf area and jetty is used by commercial fishing vessels and is very popular with boating enthusiasts and anglers and you can buy fresh and cooked fish at the kiosk. There are many walking tracks and picnic areas along the coast shaded by Norfolk Pines that provide a scenic setting. The coast from east of Port Albert to Port Welshpool is part of the Nooramunga Coastal Park which includes shallow coastal waters, mudflats and a collection of picturesque granite and sand islands. The town of Manns Beach located about 12 km east of Port Albert is a popular boating spot. Local activities and attractions include: # Visit the Port Albert Maritime Museum # Walk along the Old Port Walking Trail # Enjoy scenic boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and bird watching # The Port Albert Regatta in March each year.
