Listed Below are the Quorn - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions - Find where to Go, what to See and Do.
Quorn is a small rural service town, an historic railhead and gateway to the Flinders Ranges in northern South Australia, located about 40 km northeast of Port Augusta and 330km north of Adelaide. The main tourist attraction at Quorn is the famous, historic Pichi Richi Railway. Volunteer enthusiasts operate a passenger steam train which makes the 33 km round trip on a restored line between Pichi Richi and Quorn from March to November. They also maintain a fascinating collection of rolling stock and old locomotives that can be visited. At one time trains from the east, north, south and west all stopped at Quorn, which was the original southern terminal for the famous Ghan rail journey to Alice Springs. Those days are over but the railway and town have a fascinating heritage showcased on the self-guided walking tours or the tour, or guided tours (see the tourist office for details). There are many historic buildings, restaurants, four hotels, the Old Mill (now a motel), the Old Pichi Richi brewery (a few kilometres out from town). There is a wide range of accommodation available. Quorn is a wonderful place for a holiday or a stop over for tourists to the Flinders Ranges. Some of the best sites in the lower Flinders area include: Kanyaka Station, Warrens Gorge, Proby`s Grave, Devils Peak, Mt Brown Conservation Park, Pichi Richi Pass and Itali Itali.
