Ross is a historic town in the North Central Region of Tasmania on the Macquarie River, located about 115 km north of Hobart and 75 km south of Launceston. Ross is listed on the Register of the National Estate, because of its wonderful array of historic sandstone buildings and is renowned for its historic bridge and convict heritage. The Ross Bridge is the third oldest bridge still standing in Australia and is special as it was built by convicts - Daniel Herbert and James Colbeck. There are a total of 40 historic buildings in Ross of which 22 are located on Church Street.
