The Clare Valley is more than just wine and it is rich in history and has a fascinating heritage, showcased at Burra and Kapunda. The Valley is also a haven for artists and there are many art galleries displaying their work. The Clare Valley has rich fossil remains, including the diprotodon (giant wombat) fossils found at Redbanks Conservation Park, near Burra. Some of these can be seen at the Burra Council Office. The Clare Valley is renowned for its superb Riesling but also produces wonderful Semillon, Grenache, Chardonnay, and Shiraz.
