Riverland Region - South Australia - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions - Where to Go, What to See and Do

Listed Below are the Riverland Region - South Australia - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions - Find where to Go, what to See and Do.
The Riverland Region, located about two hours north of Adelaide stretches for about 300 km along the Murray River from Blanchetown in the west to the border with Victoria. The river landscape features spectacular vertical limestone cliffs, spectacular red gum lined banks and floodplains, extensive citrus orchards and thriving vineyards. The Riverland Region has outstanding natural beauty, unique flora and abundant bird and wildlife. There are many reminders in the region of the early days when the river was a major mode of transport with Paddle-steamers plying the river load grain, wool and other supplies to and from Adelaide to the inland ports. Now the restored paddle steamers offer delightful day trips and extended cruises and most of the river traffic is holiday houseboats, fishing boats and pleasure craft for water sports such as water skiing. Some of the many attractions in the area are: # The Monash Adventure Park # Loxton Historical Village # Cobdogla Irrigation and Steam Museum # Chowilla Game Reserve and Regional Reserve # Danggali Conservation # Murray River National Park. The region produces over a quarter of all Australian wines and many of the grapes from this area go to supplement wines from other South Australian wine regions.
