Scottsdale is a rural service town in the North East Region of Tasmania, on the Tasman Highway, located about 25 km south-east of Bridport and 65 km north-east of Launceston. Scottsdale boasts some wonderful historic buildings including Anabel`s restaurant and the Old Post Office that is now a museum. The lavender farm at Nabowla is 15 km west of Scottsdale, offers a beautiful range of lavender products throughout the year and tours in December/January when the lavender is in bloom. The main rural industries in the area are dairy farming, potato farming, pine plantations, poppy cultivation and mining. Nearby are the South Springfield Forest Park and the Mount Maurice Forest Reserve both of which provide ideal spots for picnics and bush walk. Sideling Lookout offers spectacular views of the town and the fertile farmland. Just a short drive north of Scottsdale you can explore the lovely secluded beaches on the north coast. Visit the Forest EcoCentre that showcases finest timbers, forest ecology and forestry history of the area. The Barnbougle Dunes Golf Linksand the Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm are other local attractions.
