Shoalhaven Heads is located on the northern side of the mouth of the Shoalhaven River at the southern end of the famous Seven Mile Beach. The surfing at Shoalhaven Heads is excellent for both body and board surfers and for general surfing and swimming and the local surf life saving club provides beach patrols in summer. There are excellent facilities for a wide range of water-based recreation in the ocean and river. Fishing is very popular with a variety of types available including beach, rock, shore and from boats offshore and in the river. Bushwalking is also popular in the neighbouring National Park and along the beach.
