Shoal Point lies at the northern end of the renowned Northern Beaches Area, located about 15 minutes from the centre of Mackay. Shoal Point has great facilities including: a boat ramp, Surf Lifesaving Club, beachfront store, picnic area, and a lookout offering spectacular views. The beach is patrolled in summer by the local Surf Lifesaving Club. Boating sailing, canoeing, kayaking and fishing are the most popular activities at Shoal Point, which is a perfect place to stop and explore the Mackay Area. Shoal Point provides calm swimming, great sailing, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, waterskiing and jet-skiing. The local creeks have a wide range of angling species such as grunter, flathead, salmon, whiting, bream, and estuary cod. In season prawns, mud crabs and other crabs are plentiful.
