Southport is a major tourist and service near the mid-point of the Gold Coast Region south of Brisbane, bordered by the Nerang River and the Broadwater. Southport overlooks the waterway known as the Broadwater, which boasts the Southport Yacht Club and a number of marinas. The area is very popular for sheltered swimming, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, fishing, boating, and a wide variety of water sports. Located opposite to Southport across the Broadwater is the theme park Sea World. Southport is only 10 minutes from Surfers Paradise and the magnificent Gold Coast Beaches. Along the Broadwater is a beautiful stretch of parkland that is very popular for walking and jogging and for family gatherings using the shady picnic areas and pathways. Southport has many cafes, restaurants, a large shopping centre and a wide range of accommodation to suit all tastes, needs and budgets.
