The township was established to support a major port facility in Broadsound which was later abandoned, and there are several buildings that are remnants from this era. The town has a hotel, stores, schools and a wide range of sporting facilities. St Lawrence Creek is a favourite recreational fishing area. The Craft Centre, located in the main street, has a good selection local arts and crafts for sale. The Historical Railway Building has recently been restored and is well worth a visit. This is an ideal place to stay and enjoy all the delightful attractions and activities in the surrounding district.
