Talbot is a small historic gold rush town located about 160 km north-west of Melbourne, midway between Clunes and Maryborough, and is a gateway, in the south to the central Victorian goldfields. It is renowned for its famous Farmers Market on the third Sunday of every month that features over a hundred stalls and attracts thousands of visitors. The Talbot Astronomical Observatory, next to the Post Office is open all year. Talbot lies on the Central Victorian Goldfields Trail based on the historic town of Maryborough. On the circuit you can enjoy gold prospecting, wine tasting, fishing, bushwalking, and exploring to discover the diverse flora and fauna.
