- Where to Go, What to See and Do

Listed Below are the Tanami Desert - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions - Find where to Go, what to See and Do.
The Tanami Desert is located about 650 km north west of Alice Springs, to the east of the Great Sandy Desert. The Tanami Desert is Australia's third largest desert in Australia with an area of about 184,000 square kilometres. The Tanami Track - which crosses the desert - starts just north of Alice Springs and heads north-west across the Western Australian border and extends to Halls Creek in the Kimberley. The first stop along the track is the Tilmouth Roadhouse. You can enjoy life on a working cattle station at Tilmouth Well, which offers recreation, tours, and accommodation in a beautiful desert setting. Further along the track the Yuendumu and Rabbit Flat Roadhouse offer fuel stops and refreshment. A relatively new attraction is the Newhaven Reserve run by Birds Australia. Another exciting attrcation is the ruins of the Old Granite Gold Min, found 60 kilometres south of Rabbit Flat Roadhouse, which features the original 1930s buildings.
