Bruny Island is a beautiful secluded holiday and weekend getaway destination offshore from the South Eastern coast of Tasmania. It is located less than an hour`s drive south from Hobart and the Island is accessible via the regular vehicular ferry from Kettering. It is a short 15 minute cruise across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel from Kettering to Roberts Point on North Bruny Island. There are actually two islands to explore - South and North Bruny Island, that are joined by a narrow strip of land called `The Neck`. Bruny Island is about 70 km long by 24 km wide, with about 300 km of roads to explore during your stay on the island. The South Island has a wider range of attractions and activities. The main service centre and accommodation hub is at Adventure Bay. Bruny Island features diverse flora and fauna, fantastic National parks, spectacular coastal scenery and excellent swimming, fishing and surfing beaches. There are many cottages, holiday houses, guesthouses, hotels, motels, and lots of other types of accommodation on the island.
