The magnificent East Coast Region of Tasmania is a wonderful holiday area a wide range of activities on the coast and inland, fantastic local wines and gourmet local food treats ranging from oysters to olives. The region has many fabulous beaches for swimming, kayaking, fishing, surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling and diving. There is spectacular coast scenery that is renowned throughout the world. The local boutique wineries produce some of the World's richest pinot noirs and many other varieties. There are many winery tours available for tasting the cool-climate wines at many cellar doors throughout the area. There are three magnificent National Parks on the East Coats - Douglas-Apsley National Park, with its quiet rivers and gorge; Freycinet national park, with Wineglass Bay and the red granite of The Hazards Range; and Maria Island, which is a wildlife refuge and wonderful heritage area. Migrating whales and Dolphins can be seen along the coast which has a rich diversity of habitats for fishing and diving.
