Devonport is the largest port on Tasmania`s north coast, located about 100 km west of Launceston. It is located on the Bass Highway near the mouth of the beautiful Mersey River. The Spirit of Tasmania passenger and car ferries docks in Devonport bringing many tourists from Melbourne and the mainland. The visitors from the ferries hire vehicles and head west and east along the coast, southeast to Launceston and on to Hobart and south to Cradle Mountain.
