This delightful seaside town has shops, hotels, motels, golf and bowling clubs, restaurants, art galleries and a wide range of accommodation. Tathra has and excellent surfing beach that is patrolled during the summer months. The mouth of the Bega River, Mogareka Inlet, lies at the northern end of the beach. The inlet has picnicking and BBQ facilities and boat ramps. It provides good fishing, sheltered swimming spots, bush walks and is an excellent spot for families. North of Tathra Beach is Mimosa Rocks National Park which provides scenic coastal landscapes and many secluded beaches and lagoons. There are BBQ and picnic facilities and bushwalkers enjoy the many walking trails and spectacular scenery. You can try fishing from Tathra Wharf or snorkelling and scuba diving.
