Tunnel Creek National Park is situated in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia, located about 390 km east of Broome and 1,840 km northeast of Perth. The park is located along the Fairfield Windjana Road about 35 km southeast of Windjana Gorge and some 180km from Derby. The tunnel feature of Tunnel Creek has a length of approximately 750 m running underground through the limestone and is one of the oldest cave systems in Western Australia. The present cave system was created about 20 million years ago. There are large pools of water on the floor of the cave in which freshwater crocodiles have been found. At least five species of bat are known to use the cave and many bird species. There are many Aboriginal rock paintings and speleothems decorating the walls of the caves. The tunnel is mostly about 15 metres wide and up to 12 metres high. Visitors can walk the full 750 metres path through the tunnel right to the other side of Napier Range, wading through several permanent pools and seeing bats and the many stalactites that descend from the roof along the path. The Nearby Pigeon Cave was the hideout of Jandamarra a local Aboriginal rebel.
