Listed Below are the Uluru - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions - Find where to Go, what to See and Do.Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock) is the most renowned tourist attraction in the Northern Territory. It is located about 430 km south-west of Alice Springs in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. About 40 km to the west of Uluru/Ayers Rock is Kata Tjuta, also known as The Olgas. Uluru is a magnificent sight particularly at sunrise and sunset. Uluru is a huge rock rising to about 860 m above sea level and 350 m above the desert countryside, with a circumference of 9.4 km and an area of 3.33 square kilometres. About 20 km away is the Yulara resort that has accommodation, tours and recreational facilities and the Information Centre. Ayers Rock was created a national park in 1950. Local attractions include # The Maruku Arts and Crafts Complex behind the ranger's station near the base of Uluru, which has is a fine exhibition of Western Desert artifacts and local art works. The caves around the base of the rock have hundreds of Aboriginal paintings # Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) lies to the north of Uluru and has 36 smaller rock monoliths. The largest of the monoliths is Mount Olga which rises to 546 metres. Both Uluru and Kata Tjuta are very significant for the Anangu traditional landowners, who run walking tours teaching visitors about the local fauna and flora, traditional bush foods and the Aboriginal Dreamtime stories about the area. Watarrka National Park, that includes Kings Canyon, is located about 300 km to the north-east of Uluru and 310 km west of Alice Springs. Kings Canyon has 300-metre-high sandstone walls, palm-filled crevices, walking trails and views across the desert.
