Venus Bay is an important commercial fishing area where professional fishermen, who fish in the Southern Ocean, unload their catches of fish, lobster and abalone. Venus Bay is fantastic seaside holiday location with sheltered waters providing ideal conditions for boat and jetty fishing, as well as sailing, boating, water-skiing, kayaking, wind surfing, swimming and canoeing. Surfboard riders love the secluded surf beaches along the nearby coast. Venus Bay has an excellent range of accommodation, tourist and recreational facilities. There is a nine-hole golf course located about halfway between Venus Bay and Port Kenny. The South Head Walking Trail at Venus Bay is a good spot to see pods of dolphins, Australian sea lions, sea eagles and from May to October the Southern Right Whales migrating to the Great Australian Bight. The Needle Eye Lookout offers wonderful scenic views of the rugged cliffs, natural rock formations and coastline. Nearby are the Talia Caves and Mount Camel Beach.
