San Remo is the gateway to all the delights of Phillip Island and is an important fishing port and base for fishing charter boats and boat hire businesses. Fishing is very popular on Phillip Island, whether from the shore, rocks, beach, boat, or offshore in Western Port, or on a charter boat in Bass Strait. Newhaven is a favourite for excellent surfing, fishing from the pier and bushwalking along tracks through the beautiful Cape Woolamai. At Rhyll on the south-east tip of the island features the Koala Conservation Centre and the famous wetlands at Rhyll Inlet. The main town of Cowes has many charming cafes, restaurants and shops. The Phillip Island Circuit is renowned as the venue for same of Australia`s major motor sports events: the World Championship Superbikes, International MotoGP Motorcycle Grand Prix, and Australian Touring Car Championships.
