The small township of Victoria River, which is also known as Victoria River Crossing and the Victoria River Inn, is located on the Victoria Highway about 194 kilometres west of Katherine. There is a roadhouse and campground at the location, but the area has magnificent scenery of towering escarpments cut by the Victoria River. The nearby Gregory National Park conserves much of the colourful scenery in the area and features grassy plains, spectacular ancient boab trees and magnificent gorges carved out of sandstone escarpments.
