The Kimberley is one of the nine regions in Western Australia, located in the far northern part of Western Australia, adjoining the Timor Sea and Indian Ocean, and bordered on the south by the Tanami and Great Sandy Deserts, and on the east by the Northern Territory. The tree main towns in the area are Derby, Broome and Kununurra. The Kimberley region is famous for its huge cattle stations and other industries have included pearling, mining, agriculture (centred on the Ord River Irrigation Area near Lake Argyle) and tourism. The pristine Kimberley coastline is one of the most isolated, rugged and most spectacular coastlines in the world and in particular from the Buccaneer Archipelago to Bonaparte Archipelago.
