Wagin is a rural service town and shire in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, located about 225 km south-east of Perth, between Katanning and Narrogin on the Great Southern Highway. The main rural industries in the area are wheat and sheep farming. Wagin hosts the annual Woolarama festival in March, which attracts thousands of visitors. Other major attractions are the beautiful Little Gem Theatre (art deco) and the Wagin Historical Village, which has a wonderful display of restored tractors, authentic buildings, and fixed motors, a steam engine and a range of vintage agricultural machinery. About 30 km east of Wagin is Lake Dumbleyung. The Giant Ram towering over the town was built by residents in 1985 to recognise the importance of the wool industry to the district. Local attractions include: # Giant Ram and Ram Park # Town Heritage Walk # Wagin Historical Village Museum # Puntapin and Badjarning Rocks - with lookouts and walking trails # Visit Lake Norring and the 1890s Town Well # Corralyn Emu Farm # Marroblie Bird Place # Spring Wildflowers (August to November) # Little Gem Theatre (in Trent Street).
