Waratah was originally built to support a tin mine at Mount Bischoff. The town is built at the top of a magnificent waterfall and has a fascinating heritage. You can visit the Kenworthy Stamper Mill a working historical artefact in a purpose-built tourist facility in the centre of town. You can also explore the Courthouse Museum with its wonderful collection of local historical artefacts, photos and heritage stories. Waratah is a good base for exploring the Tarkine, and you can choose from a range of accommodation including bed and breakfasts, a caravan park and camping ground and hotel accommodation. Lake Waratah is a pleasant central point in the town with picnic and barbecue facilities and walks to the falls and the dam wall.
