Warrandyte is an outer suburb of Melbourne, located about 30 km north-east from Melbourne's city centre. Warrandyte lies between Mullum Creek, the Yarra River and Jumping Creek. Warrandyte retains the feel of a rural village, with remnant bushland and many craftspeople and artists. The Warrandyte Festival, which is held each March, includes a street parade, live music, and lots of food and shopping stalls and many kids activities. Andersons Creek is one of the first sites where gold was officially found in 1851, and this marked the start of the Victorian goldrush. Warrandyte is popular as a weekend getaway destination with is array of excellent bed and breakfasts and other accommodation.
