The marina has excellent boating facilities an there is easy access to the magnificent offshore fishing grounds. The Marina is home to the Whyalla Yacht Club, Whyalla Boatowners Association and the Whyalla Sport Fishing Club. The beach and foreshore is a great spot for swimming, windsurfing and kite surfing. The ultra modern Foreshore Centre has great facilities with picnic areas and extensive lawns, cafeteria, change rooms and toilets, free BBQs and popular playground for the kids. The beach is patrolled and provides safe swimming in shallow sheltered waters. The fishing at Whyalla is superb from the jetty, beach, rocks and boats both inshore and offshore. One of the best fishing areas is around the Point Lowly Lighthouse targeting squid, salmon, whiting, and snapper.
