Windorah is located about 35 km downstream of the junction of the Barcoo River and Thomson River, which forms the multi-channelled Cooper's Creek in the Channel Country of South West Queensland. Sheep, cattle grazing and tourism are the main local industries. Windorah has a panorama of giant red sandhills and is a classic Outback country town with its historical sites, picturesque ruins and fascinating heritage and natural habitats. Cooper Creek at Windorah is a very popular fishing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming spot. The riverbank areas are ideal for bird watching.
